Volleyball Tournament in San Marcos, Texas

On Thursday, August 17, The McKinney Christian Academy varsity volleyball team traveled to San Marcos, Texas to compete in the Hill Country Christian Volleyball tournament. The tournament lasted two days and took place on August 18 and 19. The Mustangs arrived on Thursday evening and dined at an Italian restaurant for dinner where they ate last year. After dinner, the volleyball team arrived at their cabin to get ready for bed. On Friday, August 18, The Mustangs headed for the gym to play in their 8:50 a.m. game. Winning all their sets on day one, the Mustangs went 6-0. Senior Kylie Mullins said, “I enjoyed the first day of the tournament because we got to run our plays a lot.” After day one of playing in the tournament, the varsity volleyball team participated in team bonding activities. On August 19, the Mustangs competed in the platinum bracket, they won their first two games and got ready to compete in the championship match. The Mustangs fought for first place, but fell short. They ended up placing second overall.

Their next game today, August 22, at 7 p.m. at Fort Worth Christian.

Tara joined MCA in 2011 as our JH Texas History and PE teacher as well as a Volleyball & Softball Coach. Previously, she was the assistant Athletic Director, Volleyball and Softball Coach and PE teacher at First Baptist Academy. In 2012, she began teaching journalism classes and is the National Honor Society sponsor. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Communications with a minor in English from Texas Woman’s University.  Tara’s favorite scripture verse is: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” - Philippians 4:13
