On Thursday, February 15, the McKinney Christian Academy varsity baseball team played at Prestonwood. Senior Connor Jarzombek started on the mound, but let up three earned runs and one unearned run, he also stuck out three and walked five. Junior Teague Spivey, Junior Marc Jenson and Senior Connor Jarzombek were the only three hits for the Mustangs in this game. The Mustangs ended up losing the game 1-6.
On Friday, February 16, the Mustangs played the Tyler Grace Cougars at Grapevine Faith. The Mustangs won 9-1 thanks partly to the five runs scored in the first inning. Junior Micah Gagnon drew a walk, scoring one run; Jarzombek singled, scoring two runs, and senior Caden Brown singled, scoring two runs to end the first. The Mustangs added to their lead in the bottom of the second after Teague Spivey grounded out and Freshman Angel Lopez hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one. Jensen started on the mound for the Mustangs giving up only four hits and one run over five innings, he also struck out four and walked only one to end the game with a Mustang victory.
On Saturday, February 17, the Mustangs played Midland Christian varsity baseball team at Prestonwood. The Mustangs couldn’t keep up as they ultimately lost 1-8. The Midland Christian Mustangs opened the top of the first with three singles and scored two runs. They kept adding to their lead going into the third, scoring another two off the ground and a double. Freshman Porter Carroll, however, put one run on the board for the MCA Mustangs with a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh. Senior Landen Jones started on the mound for the MCA Mustangs, he gave up nine hits and seven runs over four innings only striking out two and walking two.
The McKinney Christian Academy Mustangs will play Mansfield Homeschool for their next game on Thursday, February 22.
