On Thursday, February 1, the McKinney Christian Academy varsity baseball team traveled to Plano, Texas, to face off against Prestonwood Christian Academy for opening day. Unfortunately, the Mustangs could not get their offense started as they gave up one run in the first inning, and then PCA scored seven runs on four hits in the bottom of the second inning. On the defensive side, senior Connor Jarzombek started the game for MCA. Jarzombek gave up three hits and eight runs, with only one being earned. Senior Jax Marshall led the Mustangs with one hit in two at-bats. Ultimately, the Mustangs lost the game with a final score of 0-13. After the game, head coach Brady James talks about the game saying, “I don’t think we came out of the gates too strong, unfortunately. I still love our guys, and I know they are capable of much more. It’s a long season, and I look forward to seeing us improve daily.”
Their next game will be the last game of the series against Prestonwood on Friday, February 2.
