On Saturday, May 4, the McKinney Christian Academy Track and Field team took on the State meet in Waco, Texas at Midway ISD Stadium. This was the last meet of the season for the Mustangs and one that they have prepared and practiced for all year. The team placed sixth overall out of 26 teams. The boys 4×100 team consisting of sophomore Adam Gicheru, junior Caleb Atherton, and seniors Jacob Dover-Smith and Noah Wheeler were state runner-ups with a time of 43.73s. Senior Noah Wheeler ran a 51.32s open 400m and placed second. Also, senior Jacob Dover-Smith ran an 11.15s open 100m which placed third, and took home the state title in the open 200m with a time of 22.46s! The Mustangs had a great season and finished out strong. When asked about how the state meet ended the season, Assistant/Long-Distance Coach Tyler Blue said, “The state meet was a huge success, we outperformed expectations in many events and it was a great way to end the season.” Jacob Dover-Smith’s jersey is to be retired at the end of the season.

Wyatt Neale is currently a Sophomore and this is his first year at MCA. Neale is excited to get involved with the Newspaper and exercise his creative writing skills. Neale also serves on the Worship Band at MCA and enjoys spending time with his friends and family. His biggest priority is his relationship with the Lord.
